The American Red Cross is teaming up with 3M, Roush Fenway Racing, and NASCAR driver Greg Biffle for the third year of Red Cross Racing, a blood donor rewards program designed to increase the number of people giving blood and the number of times they donate.

The efforts of the previous two years of Red Cross Racing have resulted in just over 115,000 blood donations.  We look forward to seeing that number increase in 2010.

Thanks to the generosity of 3M, Biffle will drive the No. 16 Ford Fusion with the full Red Cross paint scheme at the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races in New Hampshire in June and Texas in November.

Greg will once again serve as a Red Cross spokesperson throughout this racing season, raising awareness about the ongoing need for blood donations. Biffle, a Red Cross blood donor and member of the National Celebrity Cabinet, will help get the word out about the importance of giving blood to the millions of passionate NASCAR fans across the country.

You can join the program by visiting redcrossracing.comRed Cross Racing members get points for a variety of activities, including giving blood and/or platelets and recruiting other blood donors to join.  These points may be exchanged for prizes such as limited edition die cast cars, gardening sets, pocket tools, laptop computer bags and other exciting rewards.

So, it’s time to start your engines.  I encourage everyone to register at redcrossracing.com and cheer on Greg Biffle as he races through the 2010 NASCAR season.

We will provide Red Cross Racing updates throughout the season to keep you up to speed on the success of the program.
